Sachets are small packets that are sealed from all sides.
These packaging supplies are often used for packaging products like spices and condiments, including ketchup, mayonnaise, sugar, and salt.
Sachet package machines are chosen by contract packagers and manufacturers alike since these structures can attain high productivity while occupying limited physical space.
Sachet package machines operate similarly to multilane stick pack machinery.
The basic process involves the slicing of a big roll of film into two, forming them into multiple sachet packages, filling the package supply with the product, and sealing it vertically.
Many sachet packaging machines can produce around 800 packages every minute.
This is how the process goes:
Step 1: Film Unwind and Transport
The machines utilize a sheet of film wrapped around a core – also known as roll stock.
Rollers, powered by motors, are used to unwind this film. These rollers are attached to a reel that is situated towards the machine’s rear.
Step 2: Optional Printing
If the sachet machine has a date stamping feature (printer, in simple words), you can register the date stamp position on the sachet packaging supply relative to the horizontal seal.
This registration is done by feeding the film over a slidable roller. The film goes through a sensor that can detect eye marks and control the horizontal seal’s position relative to the printing present on the film.
Step 3: Film Centering and Tension
The third step is to feed the film across a batch of braking rollers.
These braking rollers ensure uniform pressure throughout the film. This is important to prevent the film from ‘traveling’ from one end of the sachet machine to the opposite end.
Optical sensors present at the machine’s upper end, track the film edge. These sensors can detect whenever the film has shifted from the center and automatically bring it back to the center.
Why is it so crucial to keep the film at the proper tension and perfectly centered?
So that the sealing and cutting of the sachets can be done with precision and accuracy relative to the film and graphics when the time comes.
Step 4: Film Folding and Cutting
Next, the film is divided into two halves - one at the back, and one at the front - using a disc knife.
The rear half travels underneath the sensor, which reads the film marks and helps to control the cross-seal position, relative to the print.
The two halves are then folded together, with the printed side facing outward.
Step 5: Sachet Formation
Once the halves have been folded, the film is pulled on top of the shaping strips to shape the sachet packaging products.
Smoothing brushes are inserted in these shaping strips, to improve the packets’ shape.
Step 6: Filling and Sealing the Sachets
Using round nozzles or tubes, the powder or liquid product is allocated to the sachets.
A bag straightener can be used to make sure that the packages are absolutely straight before being cut.
Both sealing jaw sets are then heated, bonding the back and front sheets, which results in sealed package supplies.
Step 7: Cutting and Discharging
To form individual sachets, disc knives are used to vertically cut the films. For couples or triplets of packets, perforation knives having irregular edges are employed.
A cutting station then helps to separate the cut, sealed, and filled packets into single sachets.
