Doypack Packaging Machine

Packaging Technology

For any business – be it a startup or a well-known brand – understanding the dynamics of product packaging is central to succeeding in the market.

As packaging in Australia becomes automated, packaging suppliers turn towards innovation to improve their production processes. Knowing how the packaging for products works can help you decide how to market your brand smartly.

PakCo uses state of the art technology to offer top quality customizable packaging to our customers. One such modern equipment we employ is the Doypack packaging machine. It allows us to efficiently produce packaging supplies in bulk quantities.

how the Doypack machine works

Here’s how the Doypack machine works and is paving the way of packaging for boxes:

1. Products Packaged

The Doypack machine is used to package several powdered items and liquids. These products are free-flow, allowing for smoother packaging maintained by the screw dosimeter present in the Doypack packaging.

· Bulk/Powder Products: tea, sugar, corn, cereal, sesame, etc.

· Liquid Items: ketchup, shampoo, mayo, honey, etc.

2. Filling System

There are various ways the machine can be programmed to fill the packaging products. They vary in speed and power.

· Volumetric Cups

As the name suggests, volumetric cups measure the volume of powder or liquid being entered for filling. This system is simpler to operate and power consumption is lower. However, it has to be manually overseen which increases filling time.

· Linear Weigher

The linear weigher automates the filling process through weighing hoppers. These hoppers are attached to weighers and are fed by vibrating channels until the weigher reaches the set limit. Each weigher can measure up to 3 kilograms. Then, the product is unloaded into the package.

· Multi-head Weigher

An advanced form of the linear weigher, the multi-head weigher uses a combination of hoppers to weigh the product. This enables the machine to calculate an accurate reading and fill the products much quicker.

3. Speed

Depending on the nature of your product, the Doypack machine packages supplies in two ways: VFFS and HFFS. These methods use a single roll of composite film, saving up time and energy.

· Vertical Form Fill Seal (VFFS)

VFFS is ideal for lighter, free-flowing items such as ketchup or tea. Even though its speed - 30 packages per minute - is half of HFFS, more products are packaged simultaneously, and are easier to seal and batch. Thus, making it the preferred speed for packing food.

· Horizontal Form Fill Seal (HFFS)

Heavier, solid products are conveniently packed through HFFS. The system works at a speed of 60 packages per minute and can be used in a variety of industries.

4. Control

The Doypack machine is operated through a programmable controller and a temperature controller. These ease the operator to adjust specifications according to the products packaged.

Furthermore, the mechanics of the machine are located on the back end, whereas the filling an assembly is on the front side. This makes the process safer and easy to monitor.

5. Output

Finally, the Doypack machine loads the final output into ‘doypack’ packing boxes. Along with being convenient for packaging, these protect products from losing their freshness and help maintain a longer shelf life.

"I liked them because they are strong, do the job, and what I need for my company and they arrived on time."
